Our progress in Yorkshire and Humber
The Construction Skills and Productivity Alliance is playing a leading role in identifying gaps and providing a co-ordinated response to the skills needs and productivity issues facing the region’s construction industry.
The Alliance is supported by three task groups – companies investing in training, qualifying the workforce and careers/graduates – that both inform and deliver against the national SSA challenges.
The Alliance also maintains a strong link with the regional skills observatory. Two employer-led groups focusing on supply chain management and client leadership, which employers themselves have identified as further skills issues, link into the three task groups.
Both the Alliance and the task groups involve a wide range of strategic partners – including Yorkshire Forward, construction employers, the Leaning and Skills Council, the Government Office, Business Link, Jobcentre Plus, Constructing Excellence, further and higher education.
Drawing on this broad base of local knowledge and expertise, the Alliance has developed regional action plans that identify priority areas, work in progress and future activities.
These collaborative actions are monitored against key targets and are under regular review to ensure they keep pace with an ever-changing construction industry and its ever-changing skills demands.
