Our progress in the South East
Established in 1999, the South East Construction Skills Forum is playing a leading role in identifying gaps and providing a co-ordinated response to the skills needs and productivity issues facing the region’s construction industry.
The Forum operates through five subgroups that are responsible for delivery of the key SSA challenges. These subgroups are:
• Business Improvement
• Qualifying the Workforce
• Recruitment
• Supply Side Effectiveness (Further Education)
• Higher Education
Both the Forum and its subgroups involve a wide range of strategic partners – these include CITB-ConstructionSkills, CIC, the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), six Local Learning and Skills Councils (LLSCs), higher and further education, Business Links and SummitSkills. Drawing on this broad base of knowledge and consultation with local industry, the Forum has developed a skills action plan (SAP) that identifies priority areas, work in progress and future activities. The SSA priorities are fully integrated into the SAP.
These collaborative actions are monitored against key targets and are under regular review to ensure they keep pace with an ever-changing construction industry and its ever-changing skills demands.
