Construction Skills Certification Scheme Ltd and CITB-ConstructionSkills sign contract in new commercial relationship
Construction Skills Certification Scheme Ltd and CITB-ConstructionSkills have today signed a new contract, which puts their relationship on a more transparent and commercial basis.
Under the terms of the contract, which will initially run for seven years, CSCS Ltd will continue to own the CSCS card scheme and CITB-ConstructionSkills will provide a full range of support services. CSCS Ltd, which has recently appointed a full time Chief Executive, will take over responsibility from CITB-ConstructionSkills for promoting the card scheme throughout the construction industry.
The outgoing CSCS Chairman, Graham Medcroft said: “I am delighted that we have reached such a positive conclusion and I am confident that the new way of working together will strengthen and develop the CSCS scheme. The two organisations can now work in partnership towards a common objective of achieving a fully qualified workforce by 2010.”
Peter Lobban, CITB-ConstructionSkills Chief Executive, commented: "The CSCS card scheme is an important tool for our industry and one which has already seen a great deal of success. I am extremely pleased to have signed this contract which formalises our new working relationship and provides an excellent platform to progress the qualifying the workforce initiative.”
There will also be a new, simplified price structure with a single price of £25.00 including VAT, for all cards – as announced earlier this year. The price of a CSCS card has remained unchanged for over ten years. The increase has been kept to a minimum because of improved efficiencies in the card administration process.
