George Brumwell – Statement of Condolence
CITB-ConstructionSkills wishes to express its deepest sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of George Brumwell.
George made a significant and valuable contribution to the construction industry and was particularly committed to qualifying the workforce.
He was the longest serving member on CITB-ConstructionSkills Board. Joining the Board in 1985, he was a member until 1990 and then again from 1993 to 2004, when he resigned to become CSCS chairman.
George also chaired CITB-ConstructionSkills Health & Safety Committee and was a member of its Finance Committee.
Sir Michael Latham, Chairman of CITB-ConstructionSkills said: “I received the news of George’s death with much sadness.
He was a man of great qualities and I was proud to be both a colleague and a good friend of his.
All of his colleagues at CITB-ConstructionSkills held him in the highest possible esteem and he will be very greatly missed.”
Peter Lobban, Chief Executive of CITB-ConstructionSkills said: “I was terribly shocked and saddened to hear of George’s sudden death.
I will remember him as a friend and will miss his wise and helpful suggestions.”
